Detailed Information on Kidney Failure

Kidneys are a pair of organs located just behind the stomach. They filter bacteria and extra salt and water from the body. Healthy kidneys clean the blood by filtering out extra water and wastes. They also make hormones that keep your bones strong and blood healthy. Kidney failure is a serious disease which can have a major impact on life, and can ultimately be fatal. Kidney failure can happen quickly (days) or more slowly (months or years). The common causes of kidney failure are glomerulonephritis (inflammation of the kidney) and diabetes mellitus. Other causes of kidney failure are kidney stones, kidney cysts, an immune disorder called systemic lupus erythematosus, uncontrolled high blood pressure and drugs. Most people with chronic kidney failure need to take medicines.

Severe injuries or burns to your body and difficult surgery increase your risk of acute kidney failure, as can an overwhelming infection. Sometimes, a person with a life-threatening infection who receives an antibiotic, such as streptomycin or gentamicin, may go into acute kidney failure. There are three options when treating kidney failure. Hemodialysis ,Peritoneal dialysis and Kidney transplant.Hemodialysis is a procedure that cleans and filters your blood. It rids your body of harmful wastes and extra salt and fluids. It also controls blood pressure and helps your body keep the proper balance of chemicals such as potassium, sodium, and chloride. Hemodialysis uses a dialyzer, or special filter, to clean your blood. The dialyzer connects to a machine.

During treatment, your blood travels through tubes into the dialyzer. The dialyzer filters out wastes and extra fluids. Peritoneal dialysis is another technique that replaces the work of your kidneys. It removes extra water, wastes, and chemicals from your body. This type of dialysis uses the lining of your abdomen to filter your blood. There are three types of peritoneal dialysis. CAPD is the most common type of peritoneal dialysis. It needs no machine. It can be done in any clean, well-lit place. CCPD is like CAPD except that a machine, which connects to your catheter, automatically fills and drains the dialysate from your abdomen. IPD uses the same type of machine as CCPD to add and drain the dialysate. Kidney transplantation is a procedure that places a healthy kidney from another person.

Detailed Information on Leukaemia

Leukemia or leukaemia is a cancer of the blood or bone marrow and is characterized by an abnormal proliferation of blood cells. As these leukaemia cells take over, the patient develops symptoms such as excessive bruising and breathlessness. Leukemias are divided into two main groups acute and chronic and then further divided by the type of white blood cell which is affected. Acute leukemias come on suddenly, often within days or weeks, progressing quickly and need to be treated urgently. Chronic leukemias develop more slowly often over many months or years. Chronic leukaemia accounts for about 3,000 of these. Leukaemia mostly occurs in later life. Chronic leukemia mostly occurs in older people, but can theoretically occur in any age group.

The different leukemias likely have different causes, and very little is certain about what causes them. Fanconi anemia is also a risk factor for growth acute myelogenous leukemia. Viruses have also been caused to some forms of leukemia. Leukemia, like other cancers, result from somatic mutations in the DNA which activate oncogenes or deactivate tumor suppressor genes, and disrupt the regulation of cell death, differentiation or division. These mutations may occur spontaneously or as a result of exposure to radiation or carcinogenic substances and are likely to be influenced by genetic factors. Exposure to petrochemicals, such as benzene, and hair dyes to the development of some forms of leukemia. Some industrial chemicals also caused of leukaemia.

Consolidation therapy (1-3 months in adults; 4-8 months in children) to eliminate any leukemia cells that are still "hiding" within the body. Chemotherapy drugs can be given in the form of tablets or injected directly into a vein (intravenous). Bone marrow transplant is also used to treat leukaemia. It can be used in conjunction with chemotherapy to greatly improve the patients chances of recovery. In chronic myeloid leukaemia, you may be treated with a drug called interferon alpha. People who have certain types of acute myeloid leukaemia will be treated with a special form of vitamin A called ATRA (all transretinoic acid). Given alongside chemotherapy. Radiotherapy is also helpful against Leukaemia. Steroid therapy is also helpful against Leukaemia.

Medical science too has ventured far and wide and has seen various magnanimous inventions and discoveries in the past centuries. The study of medicine has also been sub divided into various sections and one significant branch in the study of medical science is homeopathy. Homeopathy refers to that branch of medical science which concentrates on the natural healing power of the body and therefore stresses cure with placing more importance on the body's own immunity system. Over the years homeopathic treatment has emerged as a preferred option among various sections of the population because it provides one with the option of healing naturally without having to consume allopathic medicines and antibiotics having strong effects.
In case of acne treatment, homeopathy is found to be very effective and for this purpose it is essential that the dermatologist be aware of the details regarding the patient's medical history prior to treatment. This is deeply related to the cause of acne formations on the skin. The disparity in the functioning of the sebaceous glands and the duct system is directly responsible for the formation of reddish swellings on the surface of the skin leaving behind ugly blemishes on the skin. Moreover, stress and hormonal imbalances are also responsible for acne formations. Therefore, in order to analyze the causes behind acne formation and therefore provide adequate and suitable medication, it is extremely important for the dermatologist to know thoroughly about the patient's lifestyle, eating and sleeping habits, temperaments etc. This is one of the important modes of homeopathic treatment of acne as here the causes of acne formation are most importantly responsible for ensuring th e kind of medication to be given rather than the condition of the inflammation on the skin.
Homeopathy makes use of mostly non-chemical and natural products and some of the prominent acne treatment ingredients commence with the usage of cold packs or anti bacteria soaps to clean the skin. This is usually followed by using herbal components like calcerea carbonica and antimonium tartaricum upon the skin. It has been revealed through extensive research that these ingredients used prevalently in case of homeopathic acne treatments are extremely effective in regulating hormone levels as hormonal imbalances facilitate the growth of acne on the skin.
